From City of Mason City –

Mason City residents have recently begun receiving letters from Homeserve USA Repair Management Corp. (“Homeserve”) offering coverage in the event of a needed repair to their private water service line. By City Code the property owner is responsible for all repairs to the service line which extends from the tap at the main to the water meter inside the dwelling.

The City of Mason City currently offers no coverage program for service line repair nor is the city affiliated in any way with “Homeserve”. If you receive a letter from “Homeserve” please use your best discretion, and be sure to read and understand the complete offer before considering this type of mail solicitation.

  1. I thought the city did cover water lines as long as you were within city limits. Remember when they hosed those people on North Delaware & North Penn because their sewers backed up & the city CLAIMED they weren’t in city limits? But yet they had city water? Hmmmmm.

  2. The city used to take care of the water line from the main to the house meter. But for some unknown reason don’t any more. Now, if you have trouble with your water line, it will cost you around $5000.00 for somebody to come and fix it. Thats a cost saver for the city, but not the tax payer. Kind of like garbage pickup is going to be. Come on tax payer, dig a little deeper, we’ve got lots of new ideas on how to spend your money…:)
