DES MOINES -The Mason City Redhawks 8U baseball team won two big games in Des Moines yesterday.

They beat the Des Moines Cubs 9-8 and then beat the Midwest Pride 12-0.  “The boys played well going 2-0 today,” said Coach Eric Burt.

The games are being played at James Cownie Complex in Des Moines in the Global Sports World Series.

The team headed for Des Moines on Wednesday, according to Coach Burt.  It should be a  “great experience,” he said.    “We head(ed) down (Wednesday) night for the parade of teams and skills competition.”

Today (Friday), the Redhawks continue play against the Nebraska Bison and the Illinois Big Dogs.

All of the boys playing on  the team are Mason City kids; all but one player goes to Jefferson Elementary.

The Redhawks’ overall record right now is 30-8 with only 2 losses to Iowa teams.
