MASON CITY – According to a Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s incident report two deputies pulled over a vehicle due to 19-year-old Zachary James Kantaris of 16309 34th Street South East being spotted inside. A warrant for his arrest had been issued on Tuesday, July 10th, for violating probation. During his capture by deputies near the corner of 19th Street South East & Kentucky Avenue South it was also discovered he allegedly had an assortment of prescription drugs in his possession listed in the report as oxycodone, xanax and alprazolam.
Kantaris was transported to the Cerro Gordo County Jail for the probation violation warrant, and charged with three additional serious misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance.
The probation violation warrant had been issued following Kantaris arrest for allegedly delivering cocaine and delivering marijuana during an undercover police investigation on April 10th of this year. Kantaris was arrested on warrants for one class C felony count of delivery of cocaine and one class D felony count of delivery of marijuana on June 16th as the law enforcement drug investigation wrapped up.
Kantaris has pled not guilty to the drug delivery charges alleged by law enforcement and a trial date has been set for September 25th in Cerro Gordo County District Court. If convicted of delivery of cocaine Kantaris could face up to ten years in prison, and an additional five years if convicted of delivery of marijuana.
Court records show Kantaris is currently on probation as part of a deferred judgment for possession of marijuana.
Kantaris has since posted bond and been released from custody pending further court proceedings.
SUBJECT IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

Whose kid is this?
These are all people! gods people lead astray by evil!! For people to say just fry them throw them to the curb is ubsurd. God can save!!! He has done it for me and I was as far gone as these people!
You sound like your brain is still fried.
This POS shouldn’t be let out on bail twice!!!! Clearly he has a problem & needs to do time for it. His family has some money so I’m sure they’re paying off someone. Plus, he works at Harley & everyone who is good with the Minert’s gets out of everything. Proof that the rich families are no better than the poor when it comes to drugs. LOSERS!!!!!!!!! And a ugly kid at that…hahahahahaa!
What hell is wrong with the system to let him out on bond AGAIN. This little PRICK needs to go to federal prison, stop wasting tax payers money for a trial…thats a joke!!! He’s in too deep, I like to know who got him this deep. What judge in his right mind would put him back on the streets again.
Why is it another person can violate his parole for non voilent crime no drugs involed, cannot be released on bond? But this drug dealer takes the cake……..
Probably his cousins that got him into that $hit. I know them & they are terrible people. It’s time for an overhaul in employment at the court house & city hall if driving while drugging & selling drugs doesn’t get you any punishment at all. Or maybe this POS is a snitch…
Peter, assuming you are married and have kids. Say one day you get a call and one of your kids overdosed and was in the emergency room close to death, and say that child of yours had a small son who happen to see what happened. How does this fit into your little scheme of things? If you say this wouldn’t happen, ot happens all the time. My daughter is 23 and I had no idea she was doing drugs till my grandson came in and said mommy won’t wake up. If someone wants to pop pills in their own home who is going to hurt, well let me tell you this, it hurts alot more people than you know. You seem like an intelligent person, that is until you start talking drugs, that’s why I started calling you wimpy because you reminded me of the cartoon character from Popeye which reminded me of another cartoon character which I can’t remember the name of but was from Berkeley california from the 60’s, I won’t call you that a gain because I know it hurt your feelings but my point is you sound like one of the people from the hippie movement, drugs is cool man. Drugs are not cool, they are illegal and they kill. If you want to take them in your own home I will not judge you, it is your life but if something happens it will effect more than just you I promise you that.
Sure wish I had as much time as a Peter does to be online all the time, posting comments on every story that make him sound like a jack a#s. Don’t you work?
Good luck trying to get him to see things for and as they are. In his world, he is the smartest person he knows. Plus…I doubt you will get an answer about if he works or not either.
Peter. Lets see what happens when one of these druggies pops some pills, gets behing the wheel of a car and kills one of your children or grand children or turns you into a quadraplegic for the rest of your life. Are you really that stupid to think someone popping pills doesn’t affect anyone else. You sir are an idiot.
PL, druggies are slackers. They are the leeches on society. They contribute very little and usually steal to fund their habits or sell to non-users to widen their markets to increase their illicit incomes. They drag society into the gutter. They break down the family structure that society needs to function healthily. We can see it all around us. Society has broken down since the widespread use of drugs started in the late 6o’s and the early 70’s. They brought about promiscuity, infidelity, divorce, and addiction where these things were once rare in middle class society. It’s time people start to decide what kind of lives they want to live. Druggies obviously don’t give a crap about anyone. Round them up and isolate them. Same with alcoholics. Sober up or inflict yourselves on each other.
Well our hard earned money at work, he posted bond and he’s back on the streets already.
Peter,
Wake up…delivery of cocaine and marijuana….who is he delivering to as a 19 year old?….probably kids younger than him…think we have a problem in our school system/youth with drugs?….wondering where the drugs are coming from?….really….lets not be naive that he is inflicting himself of course but others are included….we need to clean it up NOW!!!
typical crackhead.
Yes,
I’m not sure how you feel it’s the police fault. It appears this man has had numerous charges by the police and has been repeatedly bailed out of jail and had slaps on the hand by the Judicial System. None of that involved the police. It appears they were investigation and arresting him.
sorry, more interested in seatbelt violators and parking tickets. More revenue
At some point this city better wake up to everything going on….drugs, murders, crime after crime…..the FOCUS needs to be on cleaning up this city ASAP!! I do believe the City Council needs to put some agenda items on the side right now and really hammer out concrete ideas to investigate what’s obviously getting out of control!!!
I understand it’s not all in their control as the judicial system continually slaps some of these serious offenders on the hands, and they walk right back into the community doing the same thing! As a citizen with young children, I often wonder if things are this bad in other cities similar to M.C.? Why would people want to stay here? Think all of this publicity is making M.C. look like a place people will be drawn to live and raise a family? Don’t think so! Ready to leave myself!
If he gets out on bail this time then we know there is a problem inside the courthouse, took him how many days to go back into business?
Let’s hope his parents posted bail (again) and took him straight to rehab??
He is 19 years old. Let’s hope bail is set at $10 million and he goes straight to prison. Enough of this shit running around on the streets. 3 strikes and your out for life.
Just fry this worthless piece of sh*t in the electric chair along with everyone else in prison!
Set an example for punks that think this is so cool !
Walking on the streets already! Seriously….waiting trial on delivery of cocaine and marijuana….arrested Thursday but can post a small $ amount for bail within a short time and get right back at it…..when will someone realize that being so easy on these guys only endangers the rest of our community especially the youth!!! We have a serious problem in River City!!
