Rosemary “Rose” Duryee, age 85, died February 1st, 2026, at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home in Stacyville, Iowa.
Rosemary was born on March 20, 1940, in Buck Creek, Iowa. The daughter of Arthur and Eleanor (Zell) Copp. Rosemary was married to Truman Lee Scott, November 16, 1959, for a short time. She married the love of her life, Verne Duryee, on April 16, 1975.
She left behind precious memories and life lessons that continue to resonate with everyone who knew her. Rosemary was renowned for her love of cooking and her lush, bountiful garden. She derived a unique joy from sharing her expertise, teaching anyone interested the secrets of growing the best garden around and sharing her recipes with others.
Rosemary is survived by her four stepchildren, Denise and (Kenny) Blue of Wadena, IA, Connie Duncomb of Osage, IA, Vernon (Galen) Duryee of Newton, IA and Rebecca Benttine of Stacyville, IA and one nephew, Robert Poock of Laveen, AZ. Rosemary has 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Verne Duryee, her parents, Arthur and Eleanor Copp, one sister, Beverly Poock, one nephew Jeff Poock, one stepson, Alan Duryee and one granddaughter, Kalia Strickler.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 14, 2026, at McIntire United Methodist Church in McIntire, Iowa, with her niece Nancy Kempe officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Following the service, a graveside burial will take place at the Wayne Cemetery rural McIntire. You are welcome to follow the family in procession to the cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the church, and the family looks forward to visiting with you there upon their return.
In remembrance of Rosemary, let us cherish the memories we have of her and celebrate the life she lived so fully. Let us not dwell on the sorrow of her passing, but instead, remember the joy she brought into our lives. May she rest in peace and her memory be a blessing to us all.
