MASON CITY – Jodi Draper is the top vote-getter in the Mason City school board election, while Alan Steckman and Jacob Lee Schweitzer also take seats.
Board President Janna Arndt and Richard Haas finished out of the running.
It seems voters agreed with Draper’s pursuit of an audit of school district finances after it was uncovered that there has been possible wrong-doing by administrators at top levels. More audits appear to be in the works, and many citizens are eagerly waiting to see who may be drawn into the drama – and what the possible repercussions might be if laws were broken.
One Mason City voter told NIT “I’m just glad we have someone in there that knows the numbers, can understand finances, and had the guts to go after people who might have been sticking their mitts in the cookie jar. That’s a rare combination, right there, Jodi has.”
Just when I think MC is getting it together by electing Draper, they elect a parasite like Steckman.

Really happy that Janna Arndt is out (finished dead last) of the school board. The people of MC could see through her power trip BS and attempted to bring in some reasonable, level headed people to the school board. I know she’s sad that she won’t get to try and control the new wet blanket superintendent.

I think the education folks went heavy for Steckman. I voted for both incumbents because the current board is the best one I’ve seen. I didn’t vote for Steckman because he’s Steckman. But he will fit in well with Warren. I’ll have to wait to comment on the other new guy.

What is your obsession with virtually never using attribution? There’s nothing controversial or potentially damaging in that quote. There’s no reason for that person to remain anonymous. Jodi is not done, that 2nd part of the audit should prove that the previous administration kept taking money that was not theirs to take. I know she will finish the job and make sure we are in a place that this never happens again.
