Of late the news on a national level has focused on what is called, “Obama Care.” To add to it the Supreme Court has come down with a landmark ruling that seemed to favor the majority of the provisions contained in the bill. Now the airwaves are filled with arguments both for and against.
Our own Senator Grassley says we are going to pull the plug on Grandma….he’s against the new plan. What he conveniently left out is that he took two million ($2,000,000.00) from “big insurance” to lobby against this new plan. Through the Senate he is provided with the very best insurance in the world, in fact the finest on earth, and to make it even better for him and his family, we’re picking up the bill on that. I don’t dislike Chuck, I just think that after too many years in Washington he has become infected with that deadly affliction called hypocrisy. He is a first class hypocrite.
I have been fortunate to have two policies during the past several decades. I have Medicare and Blue Cross which picks up almost all the cost of any procedure….but I am 100% in favor of this new health plan. I believe it will help millions of uninsured and in turn help lower all premiums for everyone.
I also believe it will take close to three years until this new plan can be fully implemented to the point the public will begin to see the advantages it provides, until then its opponents will try to do everything they can to try and sway you to make changes that will lead to it’s defeat. Without question health care is one of the leading factors in bankruptcy today; people simply cannot afford the burgeoning charges of both doctors and hospitals. I am not in favor of socialized medicine but this country and the people who live here, cannot end up giving everything they have worked for all their productive lives…to the healthcare system in the few short years between the time they retire and the time it takes to die. That’s not what life is suppose to be….not now, not ever.

You really need to go to Breitbart.com and read about some of the real healthcare costs. Expand your knowledge base. Try checking out the Drudge Report too. One sided information keeps people ignorant. This utopia people dream about with free healthcare is a dream—somebody is going to pay for it. Central planning and control of the people like this is bizarre.
PETER…you, nor anyone else, wants to or won’t answer the biggest imposing question… how will the 11 to 20 million illegals in this country be handled?
Do you and your Democrat buddies expect the taxpayers to pay for their healthcare?
All politicians are just plain liers and will continue to steal from the public until we put in term limits that keep them from establishing their political payoffs. The worst lier in politics today is our president (not a tax Obama).
Peter, you are just wrong…and if the progressives continue to give freebies to everyone they can, (Obamacare is intended to create consequences leading to a single payer/government run program), those people will continue to put them in office. Hard work, pride in self and a desire to succeed will be bred out of America in another generation or two and we will continue our decline in status in the world. And much to the horror of my patriot father, a veteran of WWII who truly loved his country, if I could afford to move out of the US, I am starting to believe….I would.
I think everyone should be entitled to healthcare and benefits at a reasonable cost. But I have a big problem with people that are on Title 19 if they smoke. It’s not right that they aren’t even attempting to help themselves and we as tax payers pay for the healthcare. If they can afford a cigarette habit, them they should be able to pay some kind of payment for their own healthcare.
I might not alway agree with Mr. Children. Sometimes I might not even like what he says. But he 1) has the right to his own opinion,
2) usually has arguements which back up aforesaid opinion, and 3) is always thought provoking and insightful. And personally, I’ve met Mr. Children, and I like the guy.
Dave: If you’re not all of those things I called you, why didn’t you become a congressman instead of complaining about the benifits they recieve? I just call things as I see them. You complain about something that someone has and you don’t have, and yet you have the same option to be in their place and receive their benifits. But you don’t. All you do is complain about it. It seems to me your threat to remove future comments instead of addressing them is an easy way to escape a reality check on your life. And why would you want to remove them? Don’t you believe in free speech?
Friends of ours, in their retirement years, recently received a call from a medical professional. They asked to set up an appointment with this couple so they could help them make plans for professions to help them manage their health care from home. The goal was to scale down their Dr. visits, have less tests and so on. I am wondering where this will lead and if anyone else has received simiular calls? What would they do if they had questions for their Dr.?
Just go to the Mason City ER and lay there for a few hours waiting for help. I suppose they could get rid of a number of old people that way.
Not only did The Honorable Sen. Chuck take millions from the insurance interests, he continues to take government handouts for three generations of Grassley family farms. Do a search and check out my facts.
Call it Obamacare or Grandmacare, all Americans deserve and should receive the same health care benefits enjoyed by every member of Congress. You will never hear them talk about what the tax payer ponies up for their care. And it costs them absolutely nothing!
Dave: You castigate Sen. Grassley for taking govt. handouts. Do something about it than. Quit complaining. And if all americans deserved the health care as congressmen, who would pay for it? Dave, congressmen are doing a job. When they accepted tha job, they also accepted certain benifits. If you’re not happy with that, then you should have become a congressman yourself. Just because you’re too stupid, lazy, and lack the initiative to become one, don’t begrudge them because your jealous of what they are getting. Again, be responsible for your own actions. Don’t always go looking for handouts.
Dear Anonymous,
Calling me names(stupid, lazy, etc.)only cheapens your argument. Please dont do that. Lets agree to disagree but if you persist I will ask that future comments of the same tone be removed. Thank you.
Peter: You mention that in addition to Medicare, you also have Blue Cross. That tells me that somewhere in your lifetime you knew that you were going to have to take care of yourself in your older years, and so you chose to live a monetary lifestyle that would allow you that privilage. To plan ahead. To prepare for your later years. Other people were not so wise, so why should we, as taxpayers, be forced to fund their inability to plan for their future needs? People should be responsibile for their own actions.
Amen, brother, amen.
While they were not preparing for their future I watched them buy fancy cars, race cars, snowmobiles, boats and all kinds of toys.
All the while I went without so I could prepare for my financial future and health care.
This is compassion out of control.
I do not agree with Mr. Children on this one at all.
Same hypocrisy as every other politician, Peter. Wake up.
Of course I agree, they are all cut from the same cloth.
