MASON CITY – Mason City police arrested Debra Lynn Reyes, 58, on Tuesday for one count of 3rd degree theft, one count of 2nd degree theft and one count of on-going criminal conduct in connection with possible fraud Reyes was engaged in.

MCPD investigators began an investigation into Reyes in January 2012 after receiving several complaints of her participation in possible fraud involving money transfers through Western Union and MoneyGram.  Two individuals from other states filed complaints with their local law enforcement agencies after they sent money to Reyes for payment for services and then did not receive the services they paid for.  The MCPD was assisted by the Iowa DCI; the Dows, Iowa Police Department; the Crawford County, Wisconsin Sheriff’s Office and the Hilo, Hawaii Police Department.

Third degree theft is a class D felony.  Second degree theft is an aggravated misdemeanor.  Ongoing criminal conduct is a class B felony.

SUBJECT IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

  1. Ive known this woman for years and not dissing her but she is not very smart, and its hard to belive that she was able to come up with summin like this on her own, she DEF. had an accomplis, shed never know how to screw sum1 outta money!

  2. So that is what the Kenyan prince I sent all my money to really looks like! Nothing like the picture at all! I feel cheated!

  3. Not to worry. Our judges will turn her loose with a slap on the hands. It doesn’t matter about the people she stole from who have had their lives turned upside down.
