A man who photographed his sexual abuse of a child was sentenced February 10th to more than 27 years in federal prison.
Scott Alan Schupp, age 33, from Cedar Rapids, received the prison term after an October 13, 2011, guilty plea to one count of production of child pornography.
In a plea agreement, Schupp admitted that, in the Fall of 2008, he sexually assaulted and photographed an 11-year-old female.
Schupp was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade. Schupp was sentenced to 327 months’ and 22 days’ imprisonment. A special assessment of $100 was imposed. He must also serve a 15-year term of supervised release after the prison term, and he must register as a sex offender. There is no parole in the federal system.
Schupp is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be returned to the custody of the State of Iowa where he is serving a sentence in a related case (Linn County District Court Case Number FECR 79364). Schupp’s federal sentence was ordered to be served concurrently with his remaining sentence in the state case.

My ex husband who is a convicted sex offender lives with Kathy and Cliff Schupp. He met Scott when he was in the Oakdale prison. My ex was paroled in August 2011 and was to have been on the sex offender registry for ten years. He cooped a plea from 3rd degree sexual assault to incest. He was allowed by Iowa Parole and Probation to live with Scott Schupp’s parents since he was not coming home for a long time, now as of last week 27 years to run concurrent to his sexual assault sentence. I don’t know if you are aware , but my ex petitioned public safety to have him removed off the sex offender list. They removed him , I assume since he went after and raped his own daughter , they did not see him as a threat to the community. I think the public should be made aware that even if it is part of their sentence they can be removed off the sex offender list and live with and be friends with a family’s who raised a monster who assaulted an 11 year old relative. The DOC advised it was okay to have my Ex Walter Sanders Jr there due to the fact it was difficult to find housing for sex offenders……
