A Litchfield, Minnesota man died in a one vehicle accident Friday. occurred around 2:30 pm.
Dean Earl Elam, age 73, was heading northbound on Interstate 35 at about 2:30 p.m. near the 191 mile marker when the semi-truck he was driving went off the roadway to the left. It crossed the median and the southbound lanes before entering the ditch. It proceeded to cross Hickory Avenue and came to rest on the west side, near 240th Street.
Elam was wearing his seatbelt. He was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Mason City.
The 2007 Kenworth semi trailer was owned by Poly Tank Inc. out of Litchfield, Minnesota.
