On Wednesday, July 27, 2011, heavy rains passed through northeastern Iowa. These storm systems spawned heavy rains, hail, and severe thunderstorms, causing damages and related impacts to private and public property including residences, businesses, infrastructure, and agriculture in Dubuque County.

The governor’s disaster proclamation allows state resources to be utilized to respond and recover from the effects of these storms.
The State Individual Assistance Grant Program provides grants to families with household incomes at or below twice the federal poverty index. The maximum grant a family can receive is $5,000. The program is launched with a governor’s declaration and at the request of local officials. Applicants must be legal residents of the United States and need to provide all receipts for replacement items claimed.
