Supervisors agree to give $2000 for beach cleaning equipment

The Cerro Gordo County Supervisors met Tuesday morning.

The road report was that normal maintenance is underway. S-14 paving is taking pace and a bridge project near Dougherty is on schedule.

Sheriff’s Department agreements were all OK’d on 3-0 votes.

The Supervisors heard a presentation from Terry Unsworth of Clear Lake regarding a beach cleaning device that is supposed to help lower bacteria levels in the lake. Unsworth is with the Association for the Preservation of CLear Lake. That organization already bought the beach cleaning device, which cost $23,700. The device cleans the sand up to four inches below the beach surface by scooping it up and filtering it as it moves along a conveyor belt. Unsworth asked the Supervisors for “participation” in helping cover some of the costs of the equipment. The Supervisors OK’d a $2000.00 payment.
