Local Artists Displays Painting Series at the MacNider Art Museum

Larry Gregson, of Mason City, was awarded Best in Show in 2010 during the Area Show: 42 exhibition for his painting, Winter/Spring Nonobjective. As prize for his win, he will be displaying a new series of paintings in a solo exhibition in the MacNider Art Museum’s Center Space Gallery.

The exhibition, A Series in Progress, will be on display from July 7 ñ September 10, 2011. It consists of eleven oil paintings in a series that will eventually include about one hundred paintings. Gregson was inspired by the artist Marc Chagall’s interpretations of folktales when starting the series. He is using these paintings as a story board to express his narrative. Come and see these whimsical oil paintings for yourself and view the story Gregson has begun to tell.

Larry Gregson is represented by the Campbell Steele Gallery in Marion, IA.

The MacNider Art Museum is FREE and open to the public. Regular museum hours are: Tuesday ñ Saturday 9 am ñ 5 pm; Thursdays 9 am ñ 9 pm; closed Sunday ñ Monday.|
