MCPD to participate in Prescription Drug Take Back

From the MCPD:

Once again this year the Mason City Police Department, working in conjunction with the D.E.A. (Drug Enforcement Agency), will participate in the Prescription Drug Take Back that is held nationwide on Saturday, April 30th. The Police Department has partnered up with Southbridge Mall once again this year, and the drop off point will be the old Sam Goodies store located just inside the main south entrance of Southbridge Mall. The hours of the drop off will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Anyone with unused prescription pills, unwanted prescription pills or expired prescription pills are encouraged to bring them to the drop off site, where they will then be forwarded to the D.E.A for destruction. This program is part of President Obama’s initiative to help prevent drug abuse by keeping the prescription medications from falling into the wrong hands. The service is free and anonymous. Latst years Drug Take Back was a huge success and we are hoping for a repeat this year. |
