The annual event it designed to bring local businesses in touch with the public and prospective employees.

Forty-six booths were reserved for this year’s event by regional businesses. The fair was well represented, with names like Principal, Mediacom, Northwestern Mutual, Valero, Iowa Department of Transportation, and Eaton in attendance.

NIACC Career Services Coordinator Tina Kunzman organized this year’s job fair. “I’ve actually been at the last nine events,” she said. The number of booths being reserved by area businesses fluctuates with the economy. We had a good mix this year, lots of varied industries.”

The event is held every year on the last Wednesday in March.

“The Job & Internship Fair is the perfect opportunity for local companies to network and distribute company and employment information to interested job and internship seekers. Whether companies are actively seeking new hires or not, the opportunity for company exposure and information sharing are invaluable,” Terry Schumaker, NIACC Career and Internship Center director, said.

The job fair had a good turnout, with lots of students and other adults stopping to chat at the booths, inquiring about employment or just learning about the companies.
