Hanson takes issue with bidding process on Clear Lake school project

(Submitted to NorthIowaToday.com by Todd Hanson)

We are sorry to the people that were hoping for an air-conditioned gymnasium for graduation and other events held at Clear Lake High School. We are sorry to the other contractors bidding against us, you had no idea we were bidding against you. We are sorry to all the subcontractors that you took the time to gather, process, and put your best price down so WE could Bid the most competitive price possible, even though we were LOW bidder, OUR bids were rejected on assumption that there could be a 10-15% cost savings in two months. As you know prices do not fluctuate 10-15% ($36,350.00- $54,525.00) in 60 days as Bergland and Cram (architect) and project engineer stated to the school board. Since the entire results were not reported, here are the FULL results to Clear Lake High School HVAC bids from Jan 20th 2011. Randy Cram tells us the school didn’t have the money to award. They will have it in 60 days with a 4 million dollar middle school project?

$363,500.00 Hanson Construction, Clear Lake
$371,800.00 Snyder Construction, Clear Lake
$375,900.00 Wagner Construction, Austin Minnesota
$396,700.00 Larson Contracting, Lake Mills
$424,700.00 Holland Contracting, Forest City
