Mackenzie Meyer’s 16 points help lead Iowa past Minnesota, 92-84

IOWA CITY – The Iowa women’s basketball team continued its winning way with a big victory over Minnesota, 92-84, Sunday in Iowa City.

Makenzie Meyer, a former Mason City Mohawk standout, scored 16 points with an assist and 3 turnovers.

Four other Hawkeyes scored in double figures, including Megan Gustafson (25), Chase Coley (17), Alexis Sevillian (11), and Kathleen Doyle (10).

Iowa led 48-33 at halftime and jumped out to a 13-2 lead to start the game. Minnesota never led, and Iowa built a 17-point lead at one point in the first half. Minnesota got within 71-63 in the 4th quarter, but Iowa held them off.

Junior Megan Gustafson broke the Iowa’s school record for double-doubles in a career (men or women) with 25 points and 15 rebounds. She has 22 double-doubles this season. Gustafson has now scored 20 or more points 17 times this season.

Redshirt junior Carly Mohns tied a career-high with seven rebounds.

Every Hawkeye that entered the game scored at least four points.
