Senator Joni Ernst “disappointed” in President Trump’s Executive Action to pull U.S. out of Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, President Donald Trump signed an executive order canceling the United States’ participation in former President Obama’s favorite trade deal, the Trans-Pacific Partnership – and Senator Joni Ernst isn’t happy.

U.S. Senator Joni Ernst, an Iowa Republican, issued the following statement on President Trump’s executive action to withdraw the United States from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP):

“I am disappointed in today’s executive action to withdraw the United States from TPP. With one in five jobs in Iowa dependent on trade, access to new markets is critical to our state’s economy.

“However, we must not let this stop our country from pursuing increased trade opportunities for our exporters. With the growing demand for our agricultural products across the world, it is imperative that we ensure a level playing field for American farmers and manufacturers to have a fair opportunity to compete in these markets.

“Under this new administration, I will continue to advocate for ways to work together toward a stronger trade agenda on behalf of Iowans.”

Last December, Senator Ernst penned a column stressing the critical need for expanded trade opportunities for Iowa.

Also in December, Penny Pritzker, who served as the 38th U.S. Secretary of Commerce from June 26, 2013 to January 20, 2017, wrote “as large and diverse as our country is, 95 percent of the world’s consumers live outside our borders, and 80 percent of the world’s purchasing power is outside the United States. But too often, American companies lack equal access to foreign markets and confront significant barriers to entry.”

Maybe if Joni gave Trump a little squirt … you know “golden showers” he’ll change his mind.

I did ot know rugs were of such great importance – obunger used one daily to do the ally kabar and I heard hillary munched on them? Am I missing something here – there jokers were almost world leaders – should I buy a rug /oh my how big/what color/ Will it make me rich and famous – Liberal answer – ask the government for a $1,000,000 grant to find out. Democrats funded a million dollar study to find out if people poop enough so there.

Clinton LIED – she WAS for TPP so get off that FAKE news BS.

She should throw in the towel – did she attend the womans march in DC this weekend? – what a bunch of welfare educated retards and your typical something for nothing liberal demorats – clintons hiding hoping Jeff Sessions won;t find her – obama is on a taxpayer vacation -Trump is at the Whitehouse with his patriotic crew working on saving America from the greed/lies and deception that ALMOST destroyed our great county because of the stupid liberals that were in charge before him. YOU GO DONALD !

You do realize don’t you that Senator Ernst was/is a Trump supporter? She is a conservative Republican who helped get Donald into the White House. Now, we have to hope she doesn’t follow her fellow Republicans who said today (through Trump’s new Budget and Management director) that cuts will be made in Social Security and Medicare.

Iowa exports 70 % of our corn and beans.

Most countries are banning GMO corn, beans, etc. people do not want Monsanto franken seeds.

CAFOS need to be illegal, put people and the environment first, honoring $ only brings destruction, honoring the Creator brings harmony.

Trump is dong exactly what he said he would do. It is not a surprise to anyone. He is already promoting new trade deals that will put America first.

Yup Trump is a dong putting Iowa last.

Trump is putting working people first just as he said he would. The fat cats better get used to it.

Right on my friend, Trump is the smartest man that has ever lived.
He will take care of everything and everyone and he should be bowed down to.
All hail Donald Trump, the greatest man ever.

i really hope this was sarcasm.

While I do like Sen. Ernst, I’m afraid she would have been just as disappointed if Clinton had been elected, because Clinton was against TPP too.

Good for Joni. She is at least working for Iowans and showed her chutzpah at standing up to the President. Wonder where Grassley is on this.
