MASON CITY – Mason City high school’s football field has won a state award.
During the 82nd Iowa Turgrass Conference in Iowa City on January 26, 2016, the Mohawk Field received the “Football Field of the Year” award in the state of Iowa.
This award was presented by the Iowa Sports Turf Managers Association and was selected from football fields across the state of Iowa, including college, high school and city fields.
Cory Jenniges accepted the award on behalf of the Mason City Community School District.
Great job, I herard all the teams with the million dollar artificial fields love playing on Mohawk’s NATURAL surface. Grass is still cheaper to install and maintain than an artificial turf which most teams in our conference have.
If only they had a team worthy of playing there.
Wonder how much money that cost to get that award…. Damn administration won’t even tell us that.
Exactly! How the hell did we beat Iowa, Iowa State, or UNI?! Tells you how much we care more about the damn field than we do about the kids’ education!
Way to go guys. It’s nice not to have NIACC and Newman playing on the field. Makes a hell of a difference,
