DES MOINES – Congressman Steve King’s Freedom Summit was held Saturday in Des Moines.
The inaugural Iowa Freedom Summit was held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at a theatre in Des Moines. Right-wing Christian conservatives and grassroots activists from across Iowa heard directly from national conservative leaders, during the event, unnoffically labeled as the launching point for the Iowa Cuacuses – which are about a year away – leading up to the 2016 election.
Speakers included: Senator Ted Cruz; Governor Mike Huckabee; Senator Rick Santorum; Senator Mike Lee; Representative Marsha Blackburn; Ambassador John Bolton; and Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina.
The Freedom Summit focused on how to “get America back on track by focusing on our core conservative principles of pro-growth economics, social conservatism, and a strong national defense.”
It was reported that protesters interrupted Texas Governor Rick Perry’s and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s Freedom Summit speeches. There were also protestors outside with signs.
Sarah Palin spoke too. Apparently her speech was quite interesting.
@Mediator-I have only seen parts of what she said. She is playing to the crowd. I don’t think she is really serious about running but is using this as a method to get some attention for her speaking tours. She loves to use shock phrases for her tea party supporters. Something like Trump is doing.
The two I want to hear from were not there. I would like to know more about Dr. Carson and Rubio. Romney is a non starter in my book. Walker is also interesting and I do like Huckabee but he is to far to the right. They need to learn to keep their religion out of politics.
