Trouble erupts in Cultural Crescent as man allegedly beats woman

MASON CITY – Numerous police and deputies responded to a volatile situation in the heart of the Cultural Crescent when a man was spotted beating a woman.

Mason City police told NIT that on Friday, January 9 at about 3:30 PM, a Cerro Gordo deputy was flagged down by “numerous people” to help stop a physical domestic assault in progress in the 100 block of South Commercial Alley in downtown Mason City.

“The deputy tried to intervene between the male and female,” as the assault was in progress, police said, but the male suspect fought the deputy.

“The male subject”, Brandon Mitchell, “failed to comply and resisted the deputy’s efforts to restrain him”, police elaborated. “Numerous 911 calls came in about the domestic and the deputy struggling with the male. There were also emotionally upset relatives or friends in the area and we were not sure initially how many people were involved in the disturbance.”

Officers on patrol and even within the police station itself raced to the scene to assist the deputy. Mitchell was finally subdued and cuffed. What injuries, if any, the female victim sustained were not released by police.

Mitchell was charged with Serious Domestic Assault, Interference with Official Acts, and Disorderly Conduct. Mitchell was jailed and released the next day pending a January 23 preliminary hearing. A no-contact order was imposed in the case.

Mitchell, in September, pleaded guilty to violent or violent behavior as part of disorderly conduct charge. Officers were dispatched in that case on September 14, 2014 to 7 15th Street NE for subjects fighting outside of a residence. Walker and another man were arrested. He has yet to make a payment on the $214.00 in court fees, fines and costs he was ordered to pay.

In October, Mitchell pleaded guilty to criminal mischief. He owes the entire $881.10 to Iowa courts in that case, too.

Yeah our society allows for these black asses to beat up women but then yell “hands up don’t shoot” or “cant breath”. Hey if this dude is fighting with our cops then I feel they have every right to defend themselves and shoot them. My saying is ” Fists first shoot second”

Ship this worthless piece of dog shit to prison. Just wish the fricken county attorneys and Judges would quit letting these dog shit turd brains out of jail.

The cops are afraid to do their job because some dumb ass will try to shoot them over it. It is a damn shame they have to put up with this type of stuff.

I wonder if it could have something to do with this. http://kimt.com/2014/12/08/local-authorities-react-to-updated-profiling-guidelines/
I would of tased him anyway and more than once!

Yep…they should have tasered his dumb ass until they burnt up every taser they had. Then, they should have cut that shit he calls hair.

You bet, Buzz…. let him “ride the bull” as they call it… Zap Zap!

Why didn’t the officer use the taser on this POS? He fights with a cop and gets released the next day? WTH

The Police are doing their jobs… the court system lets them go…It is just a revolving door. And, it is a real shame…

Send in another buzzload – half the ones from last month are in jail and cannot spend their welfare checks – therefore hurting our subprime local economy – shopping mall is case in reason – could be turned into a 23 million dollar community center or home for homeless people and newly arrived chitcogoans or detroiters. Just a thought – don’t get your dander up -springs a commin.
