MASON CITY – The Mason City School Board meets Tuesday night and will consider a social media policy for employees.
The board will peruse a sample draft of a possible social media policy for Mason City Community School District staff. District administration and staff have investigated other districts policies, shared this sample draft with Iowa Association of School Boards policy reviewer and the district’s legal counsel. This information item is being provided for discussion and Board input prior to moving forward with a first reading followed by approval.
Among other issues, the board will discuss enrollment numbers, energy consumption and savings for the past year, and elect a board president.
Later, the board will go into closed session “to discuss the sale of the Madison Elementary School Site as premature disclosure could be reasonably expected to lower the price the District would receive upon sale of that property.”
The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the School Administration Building.
“rahmbo” Ive heard teachers at the OP, homers and a few other bars talking about how things are going here and clear lake and it isn’t very positive, this social media thing is what I was meaning nothing bad just a lot of talking. Its been going on since I was a young drinker and it will always go on, social media or not. By the way are you a teacher? If so don’t take things so negative unless you are feeling guilty.
Here are the meeting highlights, enrollment is down 30 to 65 kids. Test scores have fallen.
We gave everyone a HUGE tax increase, and everybody gets a 4% raise.

You all know out there whether your a school employee or just a common person from Mason City/ Clear Lake that there is a common problem in our school systems. It’s the superintendent!!! She’s only here for the money but really knows what to say to the press so it looks like she cares(bull poop). Our admin from the top down is afraid to deal with anything from bad kids (school and buses) to teachers who party like crazy and run around shooting off their mouths. It’s out of control. OUST HER…
