NIACC women ink two players from Australia

MASON CITY – The NIACC women’s basketball team signed two players from Australia today to national letters of intent for the 2014-15 season.

Georgina Wirth (5-foot-9) of Morphett Vale, Australia and Tegan Ketels (5-7) of Jerrabomberra, Australia both will both be freshman members of the Lady Trojans this season under first-year coach Todd Ciochetto.

Wirth and Ketels join fellow Australian Ashleigh Onaca of Blackman’s Bay, Australia on the NIACC roster.

NIACC, which placed third at the NJCAA Division II tournament last season, returns five sophomores from last year’s team that was 34-3.

NIACC opens the 2014-15 season at home Oct. 31 against Illinois Central in the annual Konigsmark Klassic.

It seems to me that there should certainly be some American women that could play basketball.
