SPENCER, IA – A Spencer man with a felonious history of drug possession dared to free himself from a squad car after he was arrested.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested 27-year-old Joshua Randal John Haburn at a Spencer park on July 16th for possession of drug paraphernalia. Police reported that after being placed in custody and in the back seat of a squad car, during an on-scene investigation, Haburn escaped out of the squad car, and resisted arrest during re-apprehension. He was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Interference with Official Acts, and Escape from Custody and jailed before being released soon thereafter.
Haburn is a convicted felon who blew a plea deal he was given in 2010 on a charge of felony C controlled substance violation when he violated his probation a year later and was sent to prison. In May of this year, he was charged by Spencer police with two new charges of felony C controlled substance violation. He is facing a jury trial on August 5, 2014.
