AMES – Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg announced the addition of Bryce Dejean-Jones, a highly-touted transfer from UNLV. Dejean-Jones (DEE-john) is expected to graduate from UNLV and be eligible immediately at Iowa State in 2014-15.

“We are pleased to add a player like Bryce to our team,” Hoiberg said. “Bryce is someone that will help our team because of his versatility and ability to play different positions. He fits what we are trying to do and we look forward to getting him on campus.”

Dejean-Jones, a 6-5 guard, averaged a team-best 13.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists last season for the Runnin’ Rebels. He led UNLV in scoring in 12 games, which included a career-best 28-point performance against Air Force.

“I knew that I had a strong interest in Iowa State before coming on my visit and getting there only made my feelings stronger,” Dejean-Jones said. “Coach Hoiberg is so good at putting his players in a position to succeed and I look forward to being a part of the program.”

Dejean-Jones spent two seasons at UNLV after transferring from Southern California following his freshman season. In 2012-13, his first season with UNLV, Dejean-Jones averaged 10.3 points per game, including 22 points against California.

Dejean-Jones joins fall signee Clayton Custer, a top-100 prep guard out of Overland Park, Kan., as newcomers on the team next fall.
