CEDAR RAPIDS – A death sentence imposed on a notorious North Iowa drug dealer was upheld Friday in Federal court.
U.S. District Chief Judge Linda Reade ruled that Honken received a fair trial and his lawyers were effective as they defended him for the 1993 murders of three adults and two children.
It was proven in court that the children were strangled by Honken and his then-girlfriend Angela Johnson. Angela Johnson is the first woman sentenced to death by a United States Federal jury since the 1950s.
On March 23, 2012, Federal Judge Mark W. Bennett vacated Johnson’s death sentence, citing a failure to introduce evidence about her mental state from an “alarmingly dysfunctional” defense team. Read the ruling here.
According to court documents, in July of 1993, Dustin Honken, with Johnson’s help, abducted and killed Greg Nicholson, Lori Duncan (Nicholson’s girlfriend), and Duncan’s two young daughters, Amber and Kandi.

This culture here in Mason City is CONSUMED with this notion of “snitches belong in ditches”. It’s a very sick and depraved ideology that covers up heinous crimes. Did they ever find out why these Monsters killed these people and innocent children. Obviously it was over drugs, but was it money owed or something else? Were the victims getting ready to turn in the Monsters? I never really understood why? And I agree with most on this blog, these two should find there way to hell very fast, stop the appeal process and just kill them. Their torture is awaiting them.

Yes USMC, my son was killed because the mother, her new boyfriend, and her crowd were using meth at the time. I wouldn’t doubt that it was Dustin Honken’s meth that they were buying. The mother is a deeply disturbed woman with severe psychological problems who was using meth and exhibiting very poor judgment skills. She teamed up with a violent man and as a result they plotted to remove the connection with me by murdering the child. Other gang members at the time may have also been involved. Those gang members went by BULLDOG POSSE.
Just fry the S.O.B and if it is injection use the biggest, dullest needle you can find and make it hurt. It can not possible hurt as much as those young kids he killed.

It’s possible that Honken/ Johnson answered to their bigger Authority.

If there is (and you may be correct) maybe Honken will give up the rest now that he has no chance of appeal.
I’ve been following this case for many years I believe there should be many others sitting behind those bars besides Honken/Johnson. There’s more to this case than we all want to know. All you have to do is read between the lines a little.
