CLEAR LAKE – The Clear Lake City Council at its last meeting approved the purchase of two new cars for use as police patrol vehicles.

Police Chief Greg Peterson reviewed bids he obtained for the 2014 Dodge Charger, the 2014 Ford Police Interceptor, and the 2014 Chevy Caprice.  Chief Peterson told the council that the low bid was received from Lake Chevrolet for two Caprices in the amount of $54,852.  A trade-in for a 2009 Crown Victoria in the amount of $2,890 brought the net cost to $51,962.

After general discussion by the Council, Councilman Tony Nelson moved to approve the purchase of the vehicles from Lake Chevrolet and the motion passed unanimously.

Why is it that some cities like CL can get their stuff bought locally from someone who pays local taxes. But it’s a rarity for MC to purchase local. Maybe they should try a little harder.

I agree with you, but as far as local car dealerships, we only have Chevey, Toyotata and Honda dealerships locally owned here.

The owners may be from another town, but they still pay city taxes on their property in Mason City.

@John-I thought Toyota was owned by Community which by Scarless in Waterloo.

Caprices..serves em right! LOL
