Clear Lake woman arrested for possessing firearm as felon

MASON CITY – A Clear Lake woman and convicted felon is in jail for a firearm violation.

Krystel Rae Anderson, 28, was arrested Friday and taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail. She is charged with possession of a firearm as a felon and carrying a dangerous weapon.  She is being held on $7,000 cash-only bond.

Anderson is a convicted felon, related to drug charges.  She served just less than a year in the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women in Mitchellville, from May 23rd 2012 and was recently released on May 10th, 2013.  While incarcerated, she was charged with felony possession of contraband but the charge was dismissed.

In 2011, Anderson, along with another North Iowa woman, was caught trying to steal a computer from an Austin, MN Wal-Mart.  Also in 2011, Anderson tried to pay for delivery food with fake money and was arrested by Mason City police.  She was charged with D felony forgery but was able to plead to aggravated misdemeanor forgery.  She still owes Iowa courts $59.50 in that case.

Peter you must of been hit in the head again, A felony is a felony, look what happened to that Klunder guy we give him a break and lord knows how many girls he f**ked up and killed. I say once you are a felon you get a tattoo and if you turn out ok after so many years the government takes it off.

Yes, we definitely need to give gun rights to thieves so they have better tools with which to steal.

@Peter L.-I agree with you comments. I have long had a problem with the way these people are punished for the rest of their lives even after serving their sentence. They need to become part of society once again.

who are you to say what is and what is not constitutional?

Try reading the part that states citizens’ sentences imposed upon them for their crimes shall have a beginning and an end, and citizens shall not be subjected to ongoing harassment once punishment has been fulfilled, as well as no cruel or unusual punisment inflicted.

I totally agree. To strip gun and voting rights away for some pot charge is decidedly un-american.

This woman just isn’t to bright. Lock her up and lose the key.
