WASHINGTON, May 26 (UPI) — The United States is not at war with Islam as some extremists claim to justify their violence against the West, President Barack Obama said.
Obama, speaking at the U.S. Defense Department’s National Defense University in Washington, referred to various terrorism threats and how some are fueled by extremists saying Islam is in conflict with the West.
“Most, though not all, of the terrorism we faced is fueled by a common ideology — a belief by some extremists that Islam is in conflict with the United States and the West, and that violence against Western targets, including civilians, is justified in pursuit of a larger cause,” the president said.
“Of course, this ideology is based on a lie, for the United States is not at war with Islam. And this ideology is rejected by the vast majority of Muslims, who are the most frequent victims of terrorist attacks.”
However, Obama warned the extremist ideology persists and the U.S. response to terrorism cannot depend just on the military or law enforcement.
The president said the best way “to prevent violent extremism inspired by violent jihadists is to work with the Muslim-American community — which has consistently rejected terrorism — to identify signs of radicalization and partner with law enforcement when an individual is drifting towards violence.”
Obama said it must be recognized Muslims are a fundamental part of the American family.
“In fact, the success of American Muslims and our determination to guard against any encroachments on their civil liberties is the ultimate rebuke to those who say that we’re at war with Islam,” Obama said.

Maybe Osama Obama thinks we are not at war with these killers, but, the rest of us are and anyone who thinks they are not a threat to us was born stupid and keeps on working to be a moron.
Obama says the way to deal with violent extremism coming from within the Muslim-American community is to identify signs of radicalization and partner with law enforcement.
My question is why must we deal with this ongoing problem and allow the Muslim community, which Obama mistakenly claims “has consistently rejected terrorism” to grow in the US? Have they not proven themselves to be more than just a “religion” in that wherever they gain a critical political mass they seek to impose sharia laws?
Have we not seen that such groups as the Muslim Brotherhood & Hezbollah openly profess the desire to wipe out Jews and even now are driving minority Christians out of their midst? Haven’t we seen such groups as CAIR here in the US championing Muslim causes, as detailed in David Gaubatz’s book “Muslim Mafia”, as being decidedly against & subverting American interests?
Even now we see the spectacle of multi-day riots in Sweden and the savage killing of a British soldier in Britain at the hands of Muslim extremists. The response of government is to soft pedal their response. In Britain soldiers were told not to wear their uniforms when off duty so as not to cause unrest. Really?
Continuing appeasement and immigration policies of western governments is only exacerbating this growing problem. There has to be a fundamental change in this ongoing politically correct nonsense.
