NEW YORK, April 21 (UPI) — Deron Williams and Brook Lopez combined for 43 points Saturday and Brooklyn pounded Chicago 106-89 to open its first-round Eastern Conference playoff series.

Williams netted 22 points and Lopez supplied 21 for the fourth-seeded Nets, who logged their first post-season victory since 2007.

Joe Johnson added 16 points while Reggie Evans dominated the boards with 13 rebounds as Brooklyn outscored the Bulls 35-21 in the second quarter to put the contest away.

Fifth-seeded Chicago got 25 points from Carlos Boozer, but was slowed by an injury to Joakim Noah, who was limited to four points in 13 minutes while battling plantar fasciitis.

Nate Robinson added 17 points off the bench for the Bulls.
