NIACC men win fourth straight, 81-72

MASON CITY – Freshman David Humphries scored 25 points and sophomore Chris Davis scored 16 points to lead NIACC to a 81-72 victory over Iowa Central in ICCAC men’s basketball action Saturday in the NIACC gym.

NIACC has won four straight games and have won five of its last six contests.

NIACC (16-8 overall, 4-5 in the ICCAC) also received 13 points from freshman Matthew Don and nine from freshman Sam Skogen.

NIACC, which topped Kirkwood on Wednesday, trailed 41-40 at the half.

NIACC outscored Iowa Central 41-31 in the second half.

Iowa Central (15-10, 5-5) was led by Jaleel Gray with 20 points. Rhys Elliot was next in line for the Tritons with 14 points.

NIACC returns to action Sunday at home against the Waldorf College junior varsity. Game time is set for 5 p.m.

In other ICCAC action Saturday, Southwestern beat Clinton 50-41 and Iowa Lakes nipped Ellsworth 92-90 in overtime.

IOWA CENTRAL – Casey Sieren 10, Puaot Kudhot 2, Jawad Adekov 17, Jesse Jones 7, Rhys Elliot 14, Jaleel Gray 20, Chris Tawiah 2. Totals – 30-61 5-10 72.

NIACC – David Humphries 25, Mohamed Mohamed 8, Mike Wagner 7, Sam Skogen 9, Chris Davis 16, Josiah Lee 3, Matthew Don 13. Totals – 28-58 13-21 81.

3-point goals – Iowa Central (7): Adekoy 3, Jones 2, Elliot 2. NIACC (12): Humprhies 5, Mohamed 1, Wagner 1, Skogen 1, Davis 3, Don 1. Score at half: Iowa Central 41, NIACC 40.
