AMES – Iowa State linebacker Jake Knott was named the Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Week Monday, as selected by a media panel. It is the second time Knott (defense) has won the Big 12 weekly award, having claimed the honor once during the 2010 season.
Knott anchored the Iowa State defense in a 9-6 win at intrastate rival Iowa Saturday. His interception of a Hawkeye pass with 1:11 left iced the victory. Knott finished the game with six tackles as the Cyclones held Iowa to 68 yards rushing on 28 attempts.
Knott is the second Cyclone in as many weeks to claim the honor after punter Kirby Van Der Kamp won Big 12 Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after the Tulsa game.
