MASON CITY -The Cerro Gordo County Supervisors met on Tuesday morning at the courthouse.
They heard a road report from County Engineer Mary Kelly. She said that heat continues to cause some pavement buckling on county roads. She also said a mechanics position will be coming open soon after the retirement of an employee.
Kelly elaborated on a new Federal program that eliminates and consolidates some existing programs that contribute to the maintenance of roads. She said the Iowa DOT is working to see how it will handle the changes, most notably on bridge projects, and is waiting to see what affect that will have at the county level.
Supervisors OK’d an amendment to a contract regarding an effort to bring new housing to the area. Joe Myhre of NIACOG explained about a $1.6 million project in downtown Mason City regarding 13 new single, 1 bedroom apartments located in Jay Lala’s building at 23 N. Federal Ave. NIACOG is providing the administrative support on the project and the county is the lead agency in bringing in new housing to cities in the area that lost housing after floods in recent years.

Why does the guy on the right always appear to be sleeping except to take a drink of his soda meeting after meeting?
