Man Sentenced To 108 Months Of Imprisonment For Conspiracy To Distribute Cocaine in Iowa City Area

DAVENPORT, IA – On May 18, 2012, Perrie Ellis Green, of Chicago, Illinois, age 27, was sentenced to 108 months of imprisonment for conspiracy to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. Chief United States District Judge James E. Gritzner also ordered Green to serve 5 years of supervised release following his imprisonment and pay $200 to the Crime Victims Fund. On January 31, 2012, Green pleaded guilty to conspiring to the drug and firearm charges.

In the spring of 2011, police received information that the defendant was involved in the distribution of cocaine powder in the Iowa City and Cedar Rapids area. Police conducted multiple controlled purchases of kilogram quantities of cocaine from the defendant. After executing multiple search warrants, police seized additional cocaine, a loaded 9mm Ruger handgun, digital scales, and drug packaging. Police learned that during the course of the conspiracy the defendant distributed over thirty kilograms of cocaine.

This case was investigated by the Johnson County Multi-Agency Drug Task Force, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, the Iowa City Police Department, the Coralville Police Department, and the Iowa Department of Public Safety-Division of Narcotics Enforcement. This case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
