WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) today announced that the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration has granted the Des Moines International Airport $450,000 to rehabilitate a portion of the apron, the pavement where planes park. The current apron is beyond its useful life. Harkin is a member of the Appropriations subcommittee that funds the DOT.
“I am pleased that the Des Moines Airport is continually improving the quality of its airport,” said Harkin. “The funds will help to keep the airport facilities up to date and the airport operating smoothly and efficiently, which are important not just for the airport, but for the larger Des Moines economy.”
