IOWA CITY – An Iowa bicyclist was killed in a traffic accident near Iowa City Sunday morning.
According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place Sunday, May 6 at about 10:35 AM. A bicyclist, 83-year-old David Lorentz Schuldt of Iowa City was traveling on Old Highway 218 south of Iowa City when a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, driven by 26-year-old Shaena Elizabeth Beachy of Kalona approached. Beachy was unable to avoid striking Schuldt due to traffic, the report claims. Schuldt was transported to University of Iowa Hospitals after the collision but later died.
The accident remains under investigation.
