MASON CITY – Mason City police and firefighters were sent to a downtown building to deal with smoke and possible fire.
Emergency responders were on the scene around 8 PM. Onlookers had gathered to spy on the situation, and police were at the north and south ends of an alley between 1st SE and 2nd SE, just east of Delaware Avenue, to keep folks at a distance. An ambulance was on the scene as a precaution. Light smoke could be seen wafting from the building at 115 1st Street SE which houses at a business called True Hair Kare and some apartments. It appears some tenets had left the building while firefighters entered with protective smoke masks for their safety. There was water in the alley from what appeared to be an effort to extinguish something hot or smoldering.
There did not appear to be any injuries, nor great damage to the building, which records show is owned by Dave and Trudy Capitani of Northwood.
So, your mother is on here also?
