AMES – An Iowa man is behind bars after police say he murdered his baby daughter by suffocation and then was hit by a train.
A first-degree murder charge has been brought against 29-year-old Calvin Curtis White of Nevada. Late last month, his daughter died allegedly after he admitted to using a pillow to suffocate her. Soon thereafter, on the afternoon of January 29, he was struck by a Union Pacific train near Nevada, which is east of Ames. White was taken to the hospital and when he was released, police were waiting to arrest him.
White remains in the Story county jail at this time.
