Collision reported Monday in East Park; city pickup strikes tree

MASON CITY – What appears to be a city-owned pickup truck crashed into a tree Monday in East Park.

The incident happened before noon.  The pickup truck seems to have struck a tree near the maintenance shed in East Park, across from the deer pen.

Apparently, the truck simply rolled own the hill.  NIT is seeking information from the city as to what exactly may have caused the accident.

More to come once information is released.

Thank God ,it was a tree instead of a child

No one said the qualifications for a pubic service position included common sense.

Ted Cruze Canadian driver license ??

The tree just wanted to give some wood to the mc tax payers to..

Looks like alot of damage but like when Officer Klemas crashed 3 cars on East State…”That’s ok, taxpayer will just pay for it!”

They need a suicidal tree sign.

Since it was a city vehicle, MC police probably cited the tree for failure to yield the right of way,
