DES MOINES – A poll released Sunday gives a glimpse into the race for the Governor’s seat in Iowa, and incumbent Terry Branstad looks like he is in good shape.

Republican Terry Branstad has widened his lead over Democratic challenger Jack Hatch in Iowa’s gubernatorial race, a Rasmussen poll indicates.

Likely voters were asked: “If the 2014 election for governor of Iowa were held today, would you vote for Republican Terry Branstad or Democrat Jack Hatch?”

Branstad has picked up 52% of the vote to Hatch’s 35% in the statewide telephone survey of Likely Iowa Voters. Six percent (6%) prefer some other candidate, while seven percent (7%) are undecided.

The survey of 750 Likely Voters in Iowa was conducted on August 11-12, 2014 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

According to the Des Moines Register, Branstad has far out raised Hatch in campaign funds as well, leading 14-1.

So, Governor Branstad is presiding over one of the most corrupt state administrations ever (“no, we don’t pay fired employees to keep quiet” “oh, sorry, my personal attorney knew, but she told everyone not to put anything in email so it couldn’t be discovered” “sorry, Mr. Carroll, I have to fire you because you put it in email.” “no, Mr. Trooper, I’m not mad you pulled over my car for speeding; oh, by the way, you are fired” so we should give him another 4 years?

It’s really clear the 3 Musketeers are straight ticket Republicans. They don’t really explain themselves as to why they like Branstad, or dislike Hatch, which is evidence they are just voting for the same political party candidates their mommy and daddies voted for. Mediator at least offers some explanations as to his choice. I’m still voting for Doug Nelson for Supervisor despite the undemocratic primordial delegate process that appointed him as the candidate.

If you can’t see the difference then you are a lost cause.

I’ve heard Hatch explain his plan for economic development on the more local stage rather than pick one or two big companies to invest so much of our development money. I think if all you are hearing is the negative stuff, you aren’t actually looking into the candidates. Hatch is the real deal. He believes in small business/farming as the backbone of Iowa.
Not trying to talk anyone down, but I do hope people give him a real look.
How far behind was Vilsack at this point when he won?

People are smarter now, they are able to recognize a liar when they see one.

@maybe-we learned our lesson and learned it well with the Great Liar in the White House Obama. No one believes the Democrats anymore after the last one. And some of the Kool Aid drinkers still worship him. Just goes to show how some people do not pay attention.

I would support this. With all of Branstads faults he is still head and shoulders above Hatch. Everything I have heard from Hatch was just feel good stuff that he tells to get votes. He has said nothing other than to try to tear down Branstad. At least that is what I think.

@LVS…I feel the same way you do, all I’ve heard from Hatch is negativity and nothing of any substance.
