Gerald A. Shiflett, 84, of Humboldt, passed away on Friday morning, January 30, 2026 at Homestead Assisted Living & Memory Care of Algona.

Gerald was born March 2, 1941 in Yale, Iowa the son of Russell and Ruth (Silbaugh) Shiflett. He was raised and educated in Bradgate, graduating from Bradgate High School in 1958. On September 22, 1958, Gerald was united in marriage to Paulette Dee Kampen in Livermore. The couple made their home in Humboldt and Gerald worked for Gunder Manufacturing in Dakota City for over 30 years. He later ran the Super 8 Motel and then was employed at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Gerald loved time with his family and grandchildren, he enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, motorcycles, golfing and mushroom hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Paulette, his children; Dan (Candy) Shiflett of Humboldt, Brian (Deb) Shiflett of Kempner, Texas, Janelle Shiflett of Latimer and Dave (Jamie) Shiflett of Renwick, fourteen grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and his brother Eldon (Deb) Shiflett of Castana, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Randy, son Tom – age 16, his brother Elmer and sister-in-law Audrey Shiflett.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass, Saturday at church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service of Humboldt is in charge of the arrangements.
