CHARLES CITY – A recent two-vehicle collision in Charles City resulted in injuries and substantial property damage, after a woman Osage driver plowed into a teen’s Chevy Equinox.
The accident occurred on Jan. 23 at approximately 12:50 p.m. Officers from the Charles City Police Department responded to the 1100 block of South Grand Avenue after receiving reports of a multi-vehicle crash.
According to police, a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox driven by 17-year-old Kaleigh Krueger of Charles City was stopped in the southbound lane of South Main Street, waiting to turn left into a private parking lot. A 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan, driven by 47-year-old Tammy Zacharias of Osage, reportedly failed to stop and rear-ended Krueger’s vehicle.
Minor injuries were reported at the scene. The Charles City Fire Department assisted officers in clearing the area.
While Krueger’s vehicle remained drivable, the Dodge Grand Caravan was disabled and had to be towed from the scene. Authorities estimate the total damage to both vehicles at $25,000.
Police cited Zacharias for failure to maintain control. She was later ordered to pay $210.25 in fines, fees, and court costs.
