MASON CITY – This Clear Lake man’s bump ‘n grind driving style forced a Britt woman into a ditch, then straight to the hospital.

On January 22, 2026, at 6:11 PM, Cerro Gordo County sheriff’s deputies and the Clear Lake Fire Department and EMS responded to the area of 265th Street and Killdeer avenue for a report of a two-vehicle collision. David Edward Hansen of Clear Lake was driving a black 2021 Chevy Colorado and Leah Renae Redig of Britt was driving a blue 2008 Toyota Camry. Both parties were traveling westbound on 265th Street. The Chevy Colorado attempted to change lanes from the right lane to the left lane making contact with the Toyota Camry. The contact caused the Toyota Camry to enter the median and strike a road sign. The Toyota Camry came to a rest back on the roadway.

Redig was transported by EMS to Mercy One North Iowa for a complaint of pain, the sheriff’s office said.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Clear Lake Fire Department and EMS and Lake Towing.
