CHARLES CITY – It was lights out for Charles City residents when a Floyd pickup driver crashed into a power pole.
According to Charles City police, the incident took place on December 19, 2025. At 5:44 PM that evening, Charles City police say their officers responded to an auto accident on North Iowa Street. After an investigation, police determined that 25-year-old Alex Dorn of Floyd was driving his 2016 Toyota Tundra, eastbound, when he lost control and slammed into a light pole. The impact caused a power cut to homes in the area, and $3,000 damage.
Records indicate Dorn wasn’t ticketed in the incident.
