Roger Dale Gerth, the son of Clyde and Helen (Nyren) Gerth, was born on July 21, 1950 in Litton, Iowa. He passed away at the Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville at the age of 75.

Roger was a fun-loving guy who was known for his quick wit and storytelling. Making people laugh came naturally to him. In his free time, he enjoyed going to the races in Jackson, MN. The Sprint Car races were his passion and something he followed very closely. Going to casinos, playing the slot machines, was what he would consider a good time and always looked forward to his trips to Emmetsburg.

He worked at Pure Fishing from 2005 to 2018, when he eventually retired. This is where he met his wife, Jill; they were married in 2009; together they lived in Esterville. He embraced becoming a stepfather and grandfather with his whole heart and bragged about his family. Roger also took his role as a dog dad with great pride and loved each of them deeply. The bond he held with each of his dogs was unmatched.

Surviving Roger’s death include his partner Jill; his step-daughters, Tessie (Mitch) Blivens, and Chelsea (Nathan) Hecht; Grandchildren, Rhett, Brock, Keyan, Amara, Vaida; Mother-in-law, Mary Beck; Brother-in-law, Robert (Deb) Crosby Family; Brother-in-law, Rick Bierstedt; Nick (Clarissa) Bierstedt family, Abby (Jake) Fredrichsen family.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Helen Gerth, sister, Jane, brother, Robert, granddaughter, Emma and his loving dogs, Gus, Gertie, Rosie, and Ozzy.
