June 4, 1935 – November 3, 2025

Shirly Ann Movick, 90, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away November 3, 2025 at her home in Mason City, surrounded by her loved ones.

Shirly was born June 6, 1935 in Mason City; daughter of Robert and Maybel (Johnson) Schinnow. She graduated from Mason City High School and went on to earn her nursing degree from junior college. Shirly met Arlo Movick through a mutual friend, and they were married on October 24, 1953 at Trinity Lutheran Church. The couple was blessed with five children, Debra, Michael, Jeffrey, David and Anne making their home in Mason City. Shirley worked for MercyOne for twenty years and retired in 2005.

Shirly and Arlo were longtime members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City as well as the Mason City VFW. She loved to crochet; making many blankets and afghans for family and friends. Shirly had a passion for collecting dolls; many decorating her home. Shirly never turned down an opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren and loved doting on them. She and Arlo enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe and Norway. Even after retirement, Shirly never lost her drive and passion for helping others. She volunteered many hours at Good Shepherd and was always happy to help any of her friends and family when they needed her. While her kids were growing up, she was also a Den Mother and Girl Scout Leader. She and Arlo had their routines; her Friday nights at the Moose Lodge and Arlo’s Tuesday’s at the VFW. The family went on many camping trips throughout the years.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Debra (Reed) Lucas of East Peru, Michael Movick of Derry, and Anne Marie Miner of Mason City; daughter-in-law, Tracy Movick; grandchildren, Amber Movick, Teresa (Matt) Anderson, Rachael Lund, Sarah Miner, Katy (Shane) Gilge, Gabe Miner, Casey (Amy) Movick, Tanner (Kristin) Movick and Summer Hughes; great-grandchildren, Alex (Mary), Abby, Eli, Kyle, Taylor, Evelyn, Evan, Bexley, and Emery; great-great granddaughter, Emilia; sister-in-law, Donna Gatton; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Preceding her in death, her husband, Arlo, children, David and Jeffrey Movick; a grandson, Justin Willis; parents Robert and Maybel; son-in-law, Brian Miner; siblings, Deanna Rague, Robert Schinnow, and Bonnie Sonnenfeld.
