AMES – This Iowa man is accused of inflicting blunt force trauma upon his 11-month-old toddler, tragically ending the child’s life in murderous fashion.
On November 4, 2024, the Ames, Iowa police department responded to a report of a child not breathing at 3604 Ontario Street. Paramedics arrived on scene and attempted life saving measures. The child was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center (MGMC) where the child was later pronounced deceased. Officers, Ames Fire and MGMC staff noted various bruises on the child’s body. An autopsy revealed the child sustained fatal internal injuries caused by blunt force trauma. No other details about the child were released.
As a result of the continued investigation, 24-year-old Tyler Lee Zeuthen (pictured at top) of Marshalltown, Iowa, has been arrested and charged with the following:
• Murder 1st Degree, a Class A felony, Iowa Code section 707.2(1)
• Child Endangerment-Death, a Class B felony, Iowa Code section 726.6(4)
The United States Marshals Service Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force, Marshalltown Police Department and Marshall County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation. He remains in the Story county jail, awaiting court appearances.
