CHARLES CITY – An allegedly unyielding woman driver in Charles City accelerated her Nissan into the path of another woman driver, leading to big damages, traffic tickets and injuries.

According to Charles City police, on the afternoon of October 7, 2025, just past 4:30 PM, a report of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 6th Avenue and D Street was called in. The crash involved two local drivers. Celina Ahmad, age 32 of Charles City, was behind the wheel of a tan 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, traveling eastbound on 6th Avenue. At the same moment, a grey 2008 Nissan Sentra, driven by 35-year-old Yinet Torres, also of Charles City, was moving southbound on D Street.

The critical moment came when the Sentra’s driver, Torres, allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way at the intersection, striking Celina Ahmad’s Jeep.

Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene. While the details of their injuries were not immediately clear, one of the drivers was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. Police did not disclose who was hurt.

The collision resulted in significant damage, with the initial estimate placed at $25,000.

Records show Torres so far is facing the following traffic violations:

  • FAIL TO OBEY STOP SIGN AND YIELD RIGHT OF WAY
  • VIOLATION OF CONDITIONS OF RESTRICTED LICENSE
