CHICAGO – Joe Biden ended his bid for re-election as President on July 21, 2024, and the spicy Kamala Harris instantly sprung into action to replace him, only to taste bitter defeat at the hands of the mighty Donald Trump. But today, she vowed to fight on.

When Joe Biden quit on this day one year ago, he became the first incumbent president to end a re-election campaign before Election Day since Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968. After adding that he would continue serving as president until the conclusion of his term, Biden endorsed Kamala Harris for president. She instantly hit the ground running as numerous “big stars” from Hollywood brought endorsements, including musicians like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé (whose song “Freedom” was used as an unofficial campaign song), Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B, Jon Bon Jovi, Billie Eilish, Megan Thee Stallion, John Legend, Lizzo, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, Barbra Streisand, Stevie Nicks, Olivia Rodrigo, Eminem, Charli XCX. Then, the actors supported her, like George Clooney, Jamie Lee Curtis, Mark Hamill, Jane Fonda, Jennifer Aniston, Spike Lee, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kerry Washington, Julia Roberts,
Arnold Schwarzenegger, and, of course, Oprah Winfrey.
Trump brought Kid Rock to the party.
Reflecting on her whirlwind campaign experience today, Kamala Harris wrote:

One year ago today, I began my campaign for President of the United States.
Over the 107 days of our race, I had the opportunity and honor to travel our nation and meet with Americans who were fighting for a better future. And today, millions of Americans continue to stand up for our values, our ideals, and our democracy. Their courage and resolve inspires me.
Whether you are attending a protest, calling your representatives, or building community, I want to say: Thank you. We are in this fight together.
Ultimately, Trump won an easy Electoral College race, and huge swaths of America turned red as the Republican Party snatched a stranglehold on all three branches of American government.
