MASON CITY – Police sought and obtained an arrest warrant for this former Mason City dweller who is accused of choking a pregnant woman last week.
Andrew Michael Keeling, age 27 and a Mason City High School graduate, according to social media, was wanted by Clear Lake police after an incident there. Records show Clear Lake police investigated a June 12 domestic abuse case in which a pregnant woman was attacked in some way that involved strangulation, with Keeling the alleged culprit. Clear Lake brought a charge of felony D domestic abuse assault of a pregnant person while impeding the flow of blood or air. A judge issued an arrest warrant, and Keeling was arrested in Winnebago county. He was then booked into the Cerro Gordo county jail on June 18 at 5:43 PM and held on no bond as he awaits a hearing on Jun 27. He is also charged with fifth-degree theft.
In 2023, Keeling (pictured at top) was charged with felony domestic abuse involving choking of his victim. He was defended by Mason City attorney Richard Tompkins, who is famous for entering women’s homes years ago and stealing women’s “undergarments with which to sexually gratify himself” and getting a slap on the wrist for it from our local justice system. Tompkins apparently used his legal skill to sleaze Keeling out of trouble just like he did for himself, as he was able to wrangle a plea deal all the way down to simple misdemeanor disorderly conduct. But, he has to pay Iowa courts $1588.34.
