WEST UNION, IOWA – This pair of allegedly intoxicated individuals drove to a Northern Iowa sheriff’s office to visit another jailbird, only to become one themselves.
On April 12, 2025, at approximately 9:00 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious person in the lobby at the Sheriff’s Office who was attempting to visit an inmate in the Jail. After further investigation, 40-year-old Tosha Danielle Medina of Hazleton, Iowa, was arrested for Simulated Public Intoxication (Simple Misdemeanor) and Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Offense – Methamphetamine (Aggravated Misdemeanor). In addition to this incident, a K9 was deployed on the vehicle Medina arrived in at the Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle was a Gray 2014 Gray Ram 2500 truck and illegal substances were seized. The driver of the truck was identified as 62-year-old Mario Joseph Pirillo of Oelwein, Iowa. Pirillo was found to be intoxicated. Pirillo was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense (Serious Misdemeanor), Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Offense – Methamphetamine (Serious Misdemeanor), and Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Offense – Marijuana (Serious Misdemeanor).
Both Medina and Pirillo were transported to the Fayette County Jail where they await an initial appearance from a Magistrate Judge.
